Wedding Photos at St Johns House Lichfield

St Johns House is a boutique hotel wedding venue in Lichfield, that’s perfect for a stylish, relaxed wedding. When I first chatted with Paige & Brad about their wedding photos, I knew this was going to be a wedding I would love! We met up in Sutton Coldfield for a coffee, to get to know each other a little and to chat about their wedding plans. One of the things that was important to them was to have a wedding that felt authentic. Some wedding traditions don’t suit every couple, so if that’s you, don’t include them! It’s that simple! It’s your day.newly married couple hold hands and walk together in LichfieldModern editorial style portrait of a Bride holding a colourful bouquet at St Johns House in LichfieldPortrait of a Bride with an off the shoulder wedding dress holding a bright colourful bouquet taken by Lichfield photographer Jo Hastings

About St Johns House Lichfield

St Johns House, is a boutique hotel wedding venue in the centre of Lichfield. This historic Georgian House, dates back to the 12th century. It now hosts weddings for 20 guests up to 100 guests. Paige & Brad has around 40 guests, so it was the perfect Lichfield wedding venue for a smaller more intimate wedding. St Johns House has twelve individually styled bedrooms and as it’s right in the centre of Lichfield, there is plenty of other accommodation nearby for your guests.

Paige wasn’t really fussed about having getting ready photos, so my shorter coverage package was perfect for them. I arrived at St Johns House an hour before the ceremony to capture some relaxed Bridal portraits and photos with her parents.Bride with her Mum at St Johns House LichfieldFirst look with Father of the Bride seeing his Daughter for the first time before her wedding at St Johns Houseeditorial wedding photography at St Johns House Lichfield - Bride sitting in an armchair

First Look Before the Ceremony

Paige & Brad chose to see each other just before the ceremony and had a ‘first look’ together in private. I’m always happy to advise on your timeline and create a plan that can fit this in, if it’s something you’d like to do. For some couples, seeing each other at the aisle for the first time just feels like a lot of pressure, so this can be a great way to get rid of those nerves.Bride and Groom share a first look before their wedding ceremony at St Johns HouseGroom seeing his Bride for the first time before their wedding ceremony in Lichfield

The Ceremony at St Johns House Lichfield

After an emotional first look, Brad joined the guests in the ceremony room, all the nerves were gone, thanks to the fact they’d already seen each other. The room was full of excitement! Paige walked down the aisle on the arm of her proud Dad, looking absolutely stunning.

Welcome Speeches Before Dinner

Straight after the ceremony guests headed to the garden terrace. Continuing the theme of doing things their way, Paige & Brad didn’t have a confetti throw, instead they welcomed their guests by both giving a speech, thanking everyone for sharing their day. This really set the tone for the day and meant that everyone could relax and not worry all day about giving a speech later.Candid moment of a Bride and Groom wearing a tuxedo holding champagne glasses and a colourful bouquetGroom wearing black tie walking with his Bride in front of a rustic brick wall at St Johns House

After the speeches Paige & Brad did a champagne tower. I’ve had a few couples do these this year, they’re so much fun! They can be a fun way to kick off your drinks reception or it’s something you could schedule for later in the day to share with your bridal party squad.

Family Group Wedding Photos at St Johns House

Paige and Brad didn’t have Bridesmaids or Groomsmen, so group photos were short and sweet, with just their Parents, Brothers and Sisters. The lawned area in the garden at the rear of the venue is a lovely spot for group photos. Just remember with group photos, to only have the ones you really want. I’m not the kind of photographer who will make you have lots of endless combinations and think it’s best to just focus on your most important people.

Couple Portraits by a Lichfield Wedding Photographer

While guests were making their way into dinner I captured some relaxed couple photos of Paige and Brad in the garden. They’d decided to have a wander around Lichfield after dinner for a slightly longer couple session, so this meant they were able to spend the majority of the drinks reception chatting to their guests.

One of the things I love about weddings at St Johns House, is its location. It’s literally just a few minutes to walk to the Cathedral area of the city. Paige and Brad love this part of Lichfield and were keen to have some couple photos in this area. We headed off after dinner, to lots of horns tooting and passers by wishing them congratulations.
